Design

The Solomark binoculars feature a simplistic ergonomic design with portable dimensions. It measures 215mm x 145mm x 65mm and weighs just 2lbs. The surface is wrapped with a nonslip material to give you a solid grip when you are using it.

This binocular Is made from plastic but feels solid to easily withstand harsh bumps and knocks. Durability is further helped by the fact that the binocular has an Ipx4 waterproof rating. Meaning that it withstands rain, fog, and snow.

Range and Magnification

The binoculars have remarkable clarity in the dark. It uses an infrared-sensitive CMOS sensor. Assisted by a bright 3W 850nm illuminator with adjustable brightness depending on the ambient lighting outside. These features give you a viewing range of up to 1400ft.

Display

The binoculars come with a 2” TFT viewing screen measuring 320 X 240 pixels. Here you can preview the captured images and enlarge them using the 2X digital zoom. The image isn’t crisply clear but it’s an excellent quality considering the price range and what the competition offers.

Battery

The binoculars are powered by 8 AA batteries located in 2 compartments on either side. The compartments are easy to open but care should be taken with the doors once open because they are not sturdy and would easily break. The batteries will last at least 7 hours with continuous use which is a fair amount of time for most activities outdoors.

Mounting options

Mounting the Solomark 7x31mm binoculars on a tripod is easy and intuitive. This is helped by the fact that it includes a tripod adapter compatible with most of the tripods on the market.

Every good thing has drawbacks and so does the Solomark 7x31mm night vision binoculars. The drawbacks are;

  • The quality of the image decreases past 200 meters in the dark but it’s still decent for the price.
  • The resolution of the viewing screen is low, but the binoculars make up for this with sufficient lighting for a brighter image
  • The buttons are hard with a click sound once pressed. They also require some effort to be responsive.
  • The binoculars cannot be used with rechargeable batteries. You have to rely on AA alkaline/lithium batteries.
